Half Eaten

Don’t leave half eaten food on the table. It’s just rude. And gross.

Damnit lady, I even helped you make your order cheaper, and you repay me by leaving a mess?

Not cool.

Not In The Back

So they’ve suddenly taken me off of my morning shifts and put me into afternoon shifts. Huzzah! I’m not a morning person.

I figured part of this reason was because I can’t do dishes when I’m in the back, because the reaction I get. Why it took them four months to do this, I don’t know.

Anyways…

So this past Monday was when I started with the afternoon shift (which would have been great if it wasn’t for our head manager coming in when she wasn’t suppose to and making everyone high strung), and they do put me on front counter.

But I was apparently scheduled for back drive, but the managers on duty are like “…Okay that’s stupid, put FFT up front and we’ll put someone else in the back.”

So yah…I’ve even talked to the guy doing our schedules about this before. He’s even SEEN my hands when I’ve had that breakout. They’re not fun looking.

I don’t even know what’s happening…

steggiec asked: (Part 2 of 2) 2) so how are we supposed to know how to improve? 3) Evaluations are supposed to be done by managers who work with you but I'm usually an "opener" (never close) and I've had late night managers evaluate me in the past, so that's no sense 4) I'm brutally honest in my surveys but they haven't done anything to respond to our complaints until the last survey in which they threw out all the complaints and covered it up with "candy days" and "cup cake days" which stopped after two months

Yikes, sounds like they’re just trying to ignore the problems and not actually doing anything.

And man, we haven’t gotten to do surveys since…well…pretty much right when I started working they did one, which I couldn’t really do because I had only been there like two weeks. Haven’t see on since…and there’s sooooo much I’d talk about in one of those.

steggiec asked: (Part 1 of 2) I've been working here for three years come Thursday. We are supposed to have evaluations every six months with raises. 10 cents if you suck or are a good employee regardless, 15 if you're amazing, and 25 if you're a manager. I've gotten tens my first three sets and two fifteens. We are also supposed to evaluate the store with an anonymous survey. 1) They are actually pretty good at giving raises on time, usually within a month. 2) Nobody has ever gotten results from evaluations.

Schedule Change

For the past…while now, months, I’ve been working the same shift during the week. In the same place.

Ugh.

Anyways, it’s been mostly routine for me, and I haven’t even needed to write down my schedule because it’s always the same. But lo! I check my schedule for next week…and it’s different.

I’m moving from morning shifts to afternoon shifts.

Which is nice, since even after all this time I’m still not adjusted to waking up in the morning. I’m just not naturally a morning person.

So if this sticks it’ll probably help me with my sleep…

It also means now I get to mostly avoid the annoying manager and one coworker I have I usually work with in the mornings…

No idea if it’ll stick though.

Probably will depend on how well the people they’ll be putting where I was are at prep.

Rage Against Inefficieny

I don’t tend to make waves at work. I just do my job, nod my head, and only complain to other employees and stuff about things that we all relate to, like a customer being a jerk or idiot, and small annoying things they make us do.

But I find I have a really hard time keeping my mouth shut when I’m told I need to do something in an inefficient manner.

Take for instance, our prep in the morning, which includes making salads and parfaits. Usually we keep some empty salad bowls and covers, along with parfait cups and lids at the table in the back where we make them.

This makes it simple and easy to get them, especially when we’re doing only parts at a time between orders, because they only have a dedicated prep person if it gets to like ten and there’s still a ton to do. Or if the person in back drive, usually me, says “It’s way to busy, I’m not going to be able to get prep done before lunch.”

But every now and then they get on our case about keeping that stuff there. They say it doesn’t belong there and we’re suppose to keep everything in the back…In a place really annoying to get to if you’re also having to take orders in back drive. You simply don’t have time to get what you need there exactly and/or put stuff back, unless it’s really slow.

When this occasionally happens I do point this out, but they just say “Well we have to do it.”

So I just sigh, nod, and say “I’ll handle it when I have the time then.”

And then I never have the time.

And if I do, I make sure I have something else to do to make sure I don’t.

Then sooner or later, they drop the issue.

if-life-was-easy asked: Our highest raise we can get is 25 cents every 6 months but we NEVER get our on time its been 2 years and I just got my first one -_- 23 freaking cents

Yikes! D: Sounds like no one wants to give anyone raises…

Evaluations

So apparently every year we’re suppose to be evaluated. Our head manager sits down with each employee and talks about what they need to improve on, what they’re doing well, and what their raise will be and why.

I’m now approaching my third year at McDonalds, and I’ve gotten two raises so far, both ten cents, which is pretty much the highest they give us employees. :/

Anyways, I never knew we were evaluated. It’s never happened to me, and it came as a complete surprise that it was suppose to happen, when a manager mentioned it to me and another coworker when we were on break.

Other employees have gotten their evaluation. I haven’t.

So either they’re being idiots and just completely forgetting about doing that for me, or I’m a fucking perfect employee.

Pretty sure I know which one it is.

Not exactly McDonalds related, but I discovered this comic…
As a warning, the comic is full of dark and weird humor.
And I can’t stop reading it.

buttle-butt asked: I also work at McDonalds and wanted to start up a blog to tell people that working here is not all that bad or terrible, (but terrible things do happen occasionally) but I see you've already done it. Would it completely kill your page if I made one too?

I don’t think having another McDonalds page will be a problem at all for me.
